That’s the phrase I live by now but it wasn’t always so. Performing was all I had wanted to do but post a knee injury and a destructive relationship that dissolved any confidence I had in myself I retreated into a job where I was very much behind the scenes. It was only when a close friend gave me a key ring with this quote on a few years ago that I realised how far I’d come. 10 years ago I was on the brink of another career change, this time a chosen one as I was giving up a career as a stressed out, overworked Producer/ Director in Television to retrain as a Pilates teacher in California.
I was scared beyond words at leaving behind what I knew, flying halfway across the world to Los Angeles to train with Basi Pilates and knowing that not only was I the only Brit but I was by far the oldest in the group. I had done my research, I had known it was time for a change and I knew that this was where I wanted to be but I didn’t see it then as a daring adventure. It’s only now in retrospect I see what I did. I could regale you with stories of the motel shoot out the first week I arrived, or the generosity and kindness of my fellow students giving me lifts to the training centre because I couldn’t afford a car hire, or the fact I was also simultaneously studying for a English Literature degree so my motel nights were filled with pilates practice and Shakespeare but what it boils down to in essence is this. At some point in your life you have to step up, step out and step into a new experience without knowing whether it’s going to work out or not, because when you do, something changes in you for the better and more often than not, your whole life changes. Be brave my friends, be daring and be adventurous. Wishing you a wonderful day.
Keep moving and keep groovin my friends. 😊💕🙏
