What's the Matcha with you?

Matcha Powder.JPG

Described as ‘the most antioxidant rich super food in the world’ Matcha is the ground leaves of the green tea plant.  Favoured in Japanese tea houses for centuries, this little green powder packs a powerful punch in terms of goodness. It burns fat, fights cancer, increases your concentration and boosts your energy.

 Why is it so good?

When you drink Matcha you are ingesting the entire green tea leaf, so you are taking in 100 per cent of the nutrients from the plant. Matcha has 137 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea,  so drinking just one cup gives you the same nutritional content as ten cups of regular green tea.

Reasons to add Matcha to your healthy eating lifestyle

I have to admit to a little vanity alongside my wish to be healthier, happier and generally bouncy day to day, so here are the three categories I base my food choices on. As you can see, there’s something for everyone.

Aesthetic

  •    Boosts your metabolism and burns calories - helping weight loss
  •  Packed with antioxidants - they help fight the ageing process

Healthy Body

  •  Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar
  •  Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Rich in fibre, chlorophyll and vitamins
  •  Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
  • Prevents disease

Healthy Mind

  • Enhances your mood and aids in concentration
  •  Calms the mind and relaxes the body

What’s not to like? Alright, it is rather bitter tasting but I’ve created a super tasty smoothie that disguises the flavour whilst filling you with the powerful green stuff. I’d recommend Matcha to anyone but find it especially good when I need a little extra energy and concentration.

Matcha Pear and Avocado Smoothie

Pear and Avocado Matcha Smoothie.JPG

Ingredients

 250 ml coconut water

Half teaspoon matcha powder

1 tablespoon coconut oil

1 ripe pear

1 ripe avocado

I like to keep smoothie making simple, so put the first three ingredients into your blender. Then quarter the pear, remove the core before chopping into smaller chunks and add to the other ingredients along with the scooped out  flesh of the avocado. Then blend away for a good five minutes. There’s enough for two glasses, so share the love people and drink it straight away.

Do let me know what you think. I was amazed how awake I felt after drinking it.  And no crash down like the one you get after a few shots of espresso!

Enjoy!
