What is TRE? And how does it help you lose weight and protect against chronic disease
I have been experimenting with healthy lifestyle options now for many years and when I find something that works for me I can't wait to share it with you. Along with my recent conversion to a Keto-Green lifestyle I have been following the science on TRE- Time restricted eating and decided it was something to look into for myself.
The promise of giving your body some daily down-time from the work of eating and digesting to unlock powerful repair pathways that protect against chronic illness, ageing and obesity was the appeal for me. It's very simple to do - just ensure that for at least 12 hours in 24 you do not consume ANY calories. And it's not as hard as you think, I started this in January by bringing dinner forward to 7:30pm and breakfast the following day back to 8am, consuming only herbal tea and water outside of this time. The results have been remarkable and I now practice TRE daily for 16 hours, eating in just an 8 hour window. You don't have to go to that level as it's been proven 12 hours has significant benefits but eating in an 8 hour window really works for me; my energy levels are up, and I know from recent blood tests that my liver and kidney function are much improved, so for me this is a keeper.
My three key points to remember if you decide to try this are:
To be sure to keep hydrated and drink lots of water
Keep exercising. If you’re unsure of what programme to follow why not hit the 10-20 Minute Playlist Button on my Youtube Channel The Girl with the Pilates Mat and do one or two quick workouts each day.
When you do eat, make sure you are eating nutritionally dense food, good quality meals and no snacks in between!
